GURUDWARA BANGLA SAHIB
THIS GURUDWARA BANGLA SAHIB IS THE MOST IS THE MOST PROMINENT SIKH HOUSE OF WORSHIP IN DELHI AND IS ONE OF THE MOST VISITED PLACE IN INDIA. THE BRIGHT, GOLDEN DOME IS NOTICEABLE FROM FAR.
THIS TEMPLE IS EASILY RECOGNIZED BY THIS TALL FLAGPOLE. PEOPLE CAN FOLLOW THE DIRECTION OF THIS POLE TO GET HERE. BY THE WAY, WALK AROUND THIS POLE FOR A FEW TIMES WILL BRING GOOD LUCK TO US. I DID!
BEFORE ENTERING, WE MUST TAKE OFF OUR SHOES AND PLACE THEM INTO THIS SHOE COUNTER. IT'S FREE OF CHARGE AND VERY SAFE.
WE HAVE TO PUT ON THE SCARVES TO COVER OUR HEADS TO SHOW RESPECT TO THE SIKHS. IF POSSIBLE, BRING YOUR OWN SCARF...(YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN )
WE MUST WASH OUR FEET UPON ENTERING THE HOLY PLACE.
ON THE RIGHT OF THIS TEMPLE, THERE IS A LARGE POND KNOWN AS 'SAROVAR' AND THE WATER IS CONSIDERED HOLY BY THE SIKHS.
ON THE RIGHT OF THIS TEMPLE, THERE IS A LARGE POND KNOWN AS 'SAROVAR' AND THE WATER IS CONSIDERED HOLY BY THE SIKHS.
THE WATER IS SAID/BELIEVED TO BE USED TO CURE/TREAT ALL ILLNESSES AND HAVE HEALING PROPERTIES, SO SIKHS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD COME TO TAKE THE WATER BACK TO THEIR OWN HOMES. THEY DRINK AND WASH WITH IT.
WE TRIED THE HOLY WATER, IT TASTED SALTY BUT LATER ON WE FOUND OUT THAT THE WATER ACTUALLY CAME FROM THE HOLY POND! NO WONDER IT TASTED FUNNY...
u sure no one washed his feet at that pond? :)
